Welcome to NetFun. By creating an account or using our app you agree to these terms and our privacy policy. Please read them carefully — they're written to be clear, not to confuse you.
1. Who can use NetFun
NetFun is intended for university students and young adults aged 16 and over. By signing up you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
2. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Do not share your password. Notify us immediately at support@netfun.app if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
You may not create multiple accounts, impersonate another person, or use automation to interact with the app.
3. Acceptable use
When using NetFun you must not:
- Post content that is hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or harassing.
- Share another person's private information without their consent.
- Use the platform to spam, scam, or defraud other users.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or attack our systems.
- Post content that violates any applicable law or third-party rights.
We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these rules, without prior notice.
4. Content you post
You keep ownership of content you create on NetFun. By posting it you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and store it solely to operate and improve the service.
You are solely responsible for everything you post. Do not share content you do not have the right to share.
5. Communities
Community owners set their own rules. NetFun is not responsible for the rules or decisions made by community owners, but we do hold all communities to our platform-wide acceptable use policy above.
6. Calls and messaging
Voice calls and messages are routed through our infrastructure. We do not actively monitor private conversations, but we may access them if required by law or to investigate a safety report.
7. Service availability
We aim to keep NetFun running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend or modify the service at any time — we'll do our best to give you advance notice for planned downtime.
8. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. We may terminate your account for repeated or serious breaches of these terms.
9. Limitation of liability
NetFun is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll notify you in-app when we make material changes. Continued use of NetFun after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. What data we collect
We collect the following information when you use NetFun:
- Account info: email address, display name, username, and profile details you choose to add (bio, university, course, interests).
- Content: posts, messages, voice call metadata (duration, participants), and community activity.
- Device & usage: IP address, device type, operating system, and in-app interactions, used to improve the app and troubleshoot issues.
- Optional: your WhatsApp number, stored privately and never shown to other users.
12. How we use your data
- To provide and improve the NetFun experience.
- To match you with other students based on shared interests and university.
- To send you in-app and push notifications you've opted into.
- To investigate safety reports and enforce our policies.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
13. Data sharing
We share your data only in limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Supabase (database and auth), Vercel (hosting), and web-push infrastructure — all under strict data processing agreements.
- Other users: your public profile, posts, and community activity are visible to other NetFun users as intended by the product.
- Legal: when required by applicable law or a valid legal request.
14. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, posts, messages, and communities are permanently removed within 30 days. Some data may be retained longer if required by law.
15. Your rights
Depending on your location you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (use Settings → Delete account, or email us).
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Data portability.

16. Cookies and local storage
NetFun uses browser local storage to keep you logged in and remember your preferences (such as dark mode). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
17. Security
We use industry-standard measures including TLS encryption and Supabase row-level security to protect your data. No system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password and enable your device's screen lock.
18. Children's privacy
NetFun is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.
